The following websites are useful sources of images for presentations/reports etc.  Please check the copyright status of an image before using as some sites require payment and/or accreditation when using images.

Image Sources

  • Health Education Assets Library: A collection of over 22,000 freely available digital materials for health sciences education. The collection is now housed at the University of Utah J. Willard Marriott Digital Library.
  • NLM Digital Collection: Provides access to the National Library of Medicine's digital content in the areas of biomedicine, health care and the history of medicine - freely available for download worldwide and in the public domain unless otherwise indicated. Includes over 70,000 images from the 'Images from the History of Medicine Collection.'
  • Public Health Image Library:  'The PHIL offers an organized, universal electronic gateway to CDC's pictures. We welcome public health professionals, the media, laboratory scientists, educators, students, and the worldwide public to use this material for reference, teaching, presentation, and public health messages.'
  • Wellcome Images: Search for free, downloadable images taken from Wellcome's health related library and museum collections, including paintings, illustrations, photos and more.
